Mounted along all sides on verso to cardboard.
Especially during the years 1914 and 1915 Kirchner tried out the complete palette of graphic possibilities in his drawings. In this context he combined numerous different linear forms of expression. The "Tischgesellschaft" is a convicing example of that. Using fast, expressive lines the artist captured what he saw putting hatching and acute-angled figures next to softly rounded forms. He constantly recurs to the motif. Thus this scene recalls representations of the sanatorium Kohnstamm in Königstein as shown for instance in the lithograph "Dinertafel" (Cat.-rais. Dube, No. L332) and in the woodcut "Nervös beim Diner" (Cat.-rais. Dube, H276), both dating 1916.
