watercolor and gouache, unsigned. Titled and numbered 110 on the reverse of the backing paper. Inscribed lower center "Boat going from __ up the coast to Apia to a big FALALO , an official presentation of food, Jany, 1891 - Heavy surf beginning of a storm".

Other Notes: Bears printed label n. 110 on the mounting board. Also labeled on the reverse, "'Mr. LA' FARGE begs of those with own water-colors painted by him or indeed painted by anyone, that they shall not place them in sunlight nor in the reflection of sunlight. Reference can be made to the official English experiments which show that minutes of sunligth represent years of safer lighting." Also number 110 on the backing board and labeled manuf'd by Deuther Mfg. Co. Buffalo.
According to James Yarnall, this work sold not long after the last exhibition in which it appeared, "The Paris Durand-Ruel Show", and simply did not resurface.
