Job Adriaensz. Berckheyde was a significant and versatile architectural and genre painter. We thank Drs. Fred Meijer, Rijksbureau voor kunsthistorische Documentatie (RKD), 14 May 2004, for confirming the authenticity of the present painting and attributing it to Job Adriaensz. Berckheyde (e-mail).

The present painting was also examined by Dr. de Vries, Director of the Mauritshuis in The Hague, by Dr. Gudlaugson, Director of the RKD, and Dr. Klapproth of the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, who found it to be an autograph work.
