Title:

CHILDREN AT A CARROUSEL

Description:

signed JEROME MYERS and dated 1923, l.r.; signed JEROME MYERS on the reverse

oil on canvas

Condition Note: Canvas is not lined (backed/protected by a piece of plexi-glass) SURFACE: craquelure throughout (with slight cupping)--a few scattered, tiny losses from flaking UNDER ULTRA VIOLET: touch-ups/strengthening hav been added to certain areas--figures ON the carrousel at top, the oultines of some of the figures in the mid-ground and the area around where the female child half-sits/half stands at right--all of this seems to be artist's hand and added over original varnish; signature was probably added later as well

We are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described in our catalogue. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective, qualified opinion. NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSION CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF BUSINESS PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

Dimensions:

16 by 20 in.

60.6 by 50.8 cm.

Provenance:

(possibly) Mary Stewart Carey, Indianapolis; by descent to the present owner
