plaudite cives, early 20th century
Bronze, brown patina, depicting a triumphant warrior, with a taunting look on his face, standing above his freshly slain lion, raised on a naturalistic base with cast plaque reading "Plaudite Cives" and signed at back "JL Gerome." With "Siot Paris" foundry mark.
H: 15 1/4, W: 20 1/2, D: 9 3/4 in.
