JAMES CRAWFORD THOM (American, 1835-1898) COASTAL BOATYARD. Oil on wood panel scene shows three sailboats in dry dock on grassy dunes with a wooden walkway crossing a small inlet housing several small skiffs. A beach and sailboats are seen beyond all under a blue and cloud sky. Signed lower right. Faint pencil notation on back with address, date and "Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey". Possibly the same painting in the NAD 1895 Exhibition titled "Boats of the Sea". Housed in a wonderful period carved gilt wood frame with name tag. One of the finest works that we have handled by this artist. SIZE: 24" x 20". CONDITION: Very good, will brighten up with cleaning. 9-73755
