Live AuctionDescription: ITALIAN GRAND TOUR MODEL RUINS, 19TH C., SET OF THREE PIECES, H 25":Giallo di Siena marble carved to represent the ruins of the Temple of the Heavenly Twins, Castor and Pollux, H.24 7/8" x 11 1/4" x 4 1/4" overall; the Column of Phocas, H.25 1/4" x 9 1/2" x 9 1/2" overall; and the Temple of Vespasian, inscribed "[R]estitver", H.24 7/8" x 7 3/4" x 7 7/8" overall. Each on a slate base.
Condition Report: As photographed from left to right, condition is as follows: first, one column missing two acanthus leaves, another column with chips around the base, minor nicks overall to the edges, some chipping to the black marble base, and the third column with at least three repairs; second, lacking figure at the top, small losses to the marble overall, a 3/4" repair to the rim of the column's base, the stepped base with two chipped corners, several small nicks and small chips to the black marble base; third, small nicks and chips overall, possible 1/4" repair to square plinth supporting the column, minor chips to the black marble base, and the frieze is missing the connecting corner to the column, approximate 1" x 2" piece.
