Hubley cast iron clockwork Say it with Flowers Indian Flower Van, circa 1932, finished in light blue with black roof, each side is marked in raised letters Say it with Flowers, trimmed in gold, and features floral decals, oval windows and separate policeman driver finished in black and silver, the cycle is equipped with aluminum handle bars, four cylinder motor, and hinged rear door which opens to reveal a clockwork mechanism, it retains its original Indian decals, and is raised on four rubber tires with spoked wheels, comes with original key, (near mint, remarkable condition, one floral decal complete the other has some slight loss. Hubley used the Indian 4 cylinder motorcycle for several of their top of the line toys, including the largest versions of the crash car and the traffic car. There are signs of red paint in spots on this front-end, indicating that the company used a red 4 cylinder front-end, originally slated for a crash or traffic car, and simply repainted it, perhaps to fulfill a special order). The article explains, The Hubley Motorized Toys are a new development in cast iron toys, Hubley Go-Toys have the same accuracy of detail, the same sturdy strength, the same interesting 'play' features which characterize all Hubley Toys. In addition, they have the added feature of a powerful spring motor concealed within the toy, capable of propelling the toy for a long distance. The same catalogue lists the Indian Flower Van without a clockwork motor as No. 37. In describing the No.37 4 cylinder Indian Flower van in their book Cast Iron Automotive Toys, the authors, Outwater and Weart state that it was made for only a couple of years starting in 1931.
