Description: HOLMAN HUNT, William (1827-1910). Pre-Raphaelitism and the Pre-Rapahelite Brotherhood. London: Macmillan and Co., 1905. 2 volumes, 8vo (220 x 142mm). Half titles, 40 photogravure plates, illustrations (some mainly marginal spotting to plates). Original green cloth gilt. Provenance: WILLIAM HULME LEVER (ex-libris sticker and armorial bookplate in each volume); "W Hulme Lever Esq. 25 March 1888, 25 March 1909. ?C.G." (inscription on front free endpapers). William Hulme Lever (1851-1925), Lord Leverhulme, founded the Lady Lever Art Gallery in 1922. It is particularly rich in Pre-Raphaelite art. Loosely inserted into the book is a menu for a "Dinner In honour of the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Liverpool, Given by the Chairman of the Arts Committee of their City, Alderman Lea. Langham Hotel, May 2nd 1924", ?signed in pencil by Mrs Edith Holman-Hunt, [?] Webb and George Clausen. (2)
