The closeness to Oskar Kokoschka's drawings cannot be omitted, and yet, a very own expression seems to mature in Campendonk, as the figures' dynamic displays certain influences of Art Nouveau with their stretched physicalness. The vivid composition, that Campendonk creates with a certain pathos, can be regarded as a draft for a greater work. Even in its fragmentary condition it hints at what the artist was going to realize in future times. [KD]."
