Notes: American artist Tom Friedman's artistic career has spawned from his prolific thinking and meticulous nature. His work borders the obsessive through its transformation of banal material into intricate magnifications of his complex thoughts. Friedman approaches material without prejudice and without reservation, his artistic sensitivity performs a pseudo-reincarnation of the material into a higher form yet remains sensitive to its origin. One is always acutely aware of the material and the transformative process that brought us to view it and consider it as art.
 A compulsive experimenter, Friedman does not shy away fromallowing his work to be informed by the previous.This in turnproduces a systematic development of fastidious and quirky thinking,resulting in a varied yet concise body. Friedman may seem to have awide scope of reference, as the appearance of each work seems tovacillate so greatly. However, his process is informed with set ideals,and fundamentally he is a phenomenologist whose systematicthinking has the ability to carry you away in its ephemeral natureand its ongoing experimentation.
