PROVENANCE Painted for Papunya Tula Artists Gallery Gabrielle Pizzi, Melbourne Private collection, U.S.A. This painting is sold with an accompanying certificate from Papunya Tula Artists that reads in part; 'This painting depicts designs associated with the soakage water site of Putulnga, the artist's birthplace, west of Lake Mackay. The Yala or Bush Potato Dreaming is associated with this site. This is an edible tuber or much sought after food. The design shows the roots of the potato which can be cooked on the fire, made into damper or made into a type of milk. This mythology forms part of the Morning Star Dreaming'.
