George II inlaid walnut and oak double-bonnet secretary bookcase mid 18th century
top section with double-arch cornice above arch paneled doors on lower section with fallboard concealing tiered interior drawers and pigeonholes flanking prospect door and well, above case fitted with three short drawers over two long drawers; all resting on straight cut-out bracket feet.

Provenance: Descended through the estate of Dora Gray, a well-known Columbia, South Carolina decorator from the 1930s to the late 1950s. Miss Gray 's home and shop was located at 1316 Gervais Street, on property now occupied by Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.
