1556. DANIEL CHESTER FRENCH (1830-1931) American sculptor of the seated figure of Abraham Lincoln at the Lincoln Memorial, and of "The Minute Man" at Concord. Good content A.L.S.,3pp. 8vo., Glendale, July 3, 1917 to a lady, in part: "...It is sweet of you to tell me of your impressions of the statue of Mr. Emerson - that it brought him back to you. If I have been able to express a part of the greatness that I tried to portray, the statue should have some appeal in it...it is very reassuring that one who knew him...is affected by the statue..." Heavy mounting traces on verso of last page, else very good. $100-150
