NOTE

Helios, a recently rediscovered work, was executed circa 1927. A study for this painting is recorded in Heinrich Voss, Werkkatalog der Gemälde Franz von Stucks, 1973, Munich, no. 607/99. Our painting also relates to posters made in 1905 and 1913. A painting from 1926, Prometheus, shows a similar treatment to the rays of the sun (Voss 593/97). This lot will be included in the Archiv Franz von Stuck under the direction of Albert Ritthaler, Hamburg/Munich as Arbeitsnummer R050601.
