The attribution is due to Everett Fahy who has inspected the painting in the original. He believes the painting to be a late work by the artist, datable to the early 1480s, comparable to the painting of The Madonna and Child with Angels formerly in the Gualino collection, Turin (L. Venturini, Francesco Botticini, Florence 1994, p. 120, cat. no. 56, reproduced fig. 91).
