A couple harvesting wheat. Signed lower left "C.A. Slade". Caleb Arnold Slade (American, 1882-1961). Slade was born in Acushnet, MA, but by 1922 was living in Truro a great deal of the time and continued to live there for the rest of his life. He served in WWI in France. A great many of his works were found several years ago and an exhibit of many of them was held at the Cape Museum of Fine Arts in 2002. That catalog True Visions: The Paintings of C. Arnold Slade was prepared by Julie Carlson Eldred. Oil on canvas, relined, 44" x 56". Exhibited at True Visions the Paintings of C. Arnold Slade, Attleboro, March/April, 2002".
