FRAMED MINIATURE PORTRAIT Of a young man. Signed on reverse "Painted by A.C. Staughton, Philada. Dec. 1838". A.C. Staughton was the married name of Anna Claypoole Peale (1791-1878), daughter of James Peale. She and her sister Sarah were the first two women to win election to the National Academy. Rectangular, 3 1/2 " x 2 5/8" sight. Brass frame.
