Fine Pair of French Second Empire First Standard (.950) Silver Wine Coolers, third quarter 19th century, by Dominique Laporte, active Paris, 1825-1863, each of urn form with applied and chased acanthus and palmette calyx, opposing applied ringed lion's-masque handles, applied "vintage" banding at the neck and a "leaf-and-dart" rim, fitted with the original silver liner, the whole raised above a circular foot decorated en suite with the calyx and rim, h. 11-1/4", dia. 7-1/4", w. 9-1/4", 234.38 total t. oz.French First Standard (.950) Silver Ecuelle, fourth quarter 19th century, Paris, possibly Edouard Ernie, of traditional form with applied ovolo rim and opposing anthemion handles, the ogee-domed lid with realistically detailed cabbage finial, h. 6-1/4", dia. 8-1/2", w. 13-3/4", 36.27 t. oz.
