Notes: Although dating the present work to 1825 on the basis that Krokkleiva was a popular tourist attraction, and that Dahl may have been inspired by other artists' sketches and prints of the same view, Bang suggests that the date shown may be a 'smudged' 1828. Dahl appears first to have sketched the subject on his first return trip to Norway in 1826, and painted another in 1828 (Bang, no. 589).
