NOTE
Brodsky wrote to fellow artist Kostandi after a trip to Spain that "It is only worth going to Madrid to see Velasquez and Goya: these two masters are amazing". He had travelled to Spain from Paris in 1909 where he painted bullfights in Madrid. He stayed in Grenada for one month during which he painted numerous sketches en plein air in the soaring Summer temperatures
