NOTE

Frau mit Kind und Mädchen auf der Strasse, executed in 1913, is a wonderful example of August Macke's work produced during the pre-war years, evoking a world of modern paradise in the depiction of parks, zoos or waterside promenades. As a member of the Blaue Reiter group, Macke was the only artist to paint modern-life subjects. He was strongly inspired by Delaunay and the tenets of Cubism as is impressively reflected in the present work depicting a scene in a park. Frau mit Kind und Mädchen auf der Strasse is a beautiful and quintessential example of Macke's oeuvre during his most significant years of creation.
