Notes:
Executed in 1896, following a trip to Italy, the present work shows the influence of the Italian 'primitives' on Armand Point both in choice of subject matter and in the technique of fresco painting. Sainte Cecilia is a finished study for a fresco of the same title (now in the collection of the French State), and represents Point's fusion of Italian quattrocento, Pre-Raphaelite and Catholic mystical influences. The model was Helene Lindet, later Mme. Philippe Berthelot.
