Excellent Pre-War Winchester Model 64 Lever-Action Rifle in Caliber .219 Zipper

Winchester Model 64 Rifle manufactured between 1938 and 1941 for the .219 Zipper cartridge. The rifle has the 26-inch barrel that was standard for Model 64 Rifles chambered in 219 Zipper. The rifle has a full blue finish. The walnut pistol grip stock and semi-beaver tail forearm have a lacquer finish. The stock is fitted with a checkered, blued, steel buttplate. The barrel has a hooded ramp front sight and a factory blank in the rear sight dove-tail. A factory fitted Lyman 98-A peep rear sight is located on the top of the bolt. Which is missing the rear "screw-in" peep. The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped: "WINCHESTER/PROOF STEEL" in two lines followed by "-MODEL 64-", "WINCHESTER/-TRADE MARK-" and "-219 ZIPPER-". The right side of the barrel is roll-stamped with the two-line Winchester New Haven address. The oval Winchester "WP" proof mark is stamped on the top of the barrel and the receiver. The upper receiver tang is roll-stamped: "WINCHESTER"/-TRADE MARK-/-MADE IN U.S.A.-" in three lines. The serial number is located on the forward edge of the lower receiver. The .219 Zipper cartridge was offered in the Model 64 Rifle as special order in 1937 and in standard production rifles from 1938 to 1941.
