Eugene Grandin (French, ac. 1851-1909)

Portrait of the Bark Reunion, Leaving Le Harvre. Signed and dated "Eugene Grandin Havre 1866," vessel identified on a pennant. Mixed media including watercolor and graphite on paper, the vessel shown flying an American flag, sight size 4 x 6 5/8 in., in an eglomise mat and molded wood frame. Condition: Small faint stains in sky and water, not examined out of frame.

Note: American Lloyd's Universal Register of Shipping, 1867, lists that the bark Reunion was built at Waldoboro, Maine, in 1865 for C. Conery. She was 457 tons.
