Emma Stebbins (American, 1815-1882) - a white marble female bust, in classical style, with flowers in her hair, on a waisted socle, reverse signed and inscribed 'Rome 1865', 42cm high Emma Stebbins was at the centre of what Henry James called the 'White Marmorean Flock', a group of largely lesbian American sculptors who settled in Rome in the mid-19th century.
