Manufactured originally in 1899, this Model 1894 rifle was subsequently custom embellished with raised relief floral scroll engraving on the receiver. In addition the left side of the receiver is engraved with a finely detailed wooded mountain scene with two gold inlaid and relief engraved long horn sheep in the foreground and two horned mountain goats on a ledge on the right side. There is relief gold inlaid wire border around the scenes as bordering the receiver, loading gate, top of the bolt, on the tangs and around the screws. There are three relief gold inlaid bands on the muzzle and breech ends of the barrel with the breech end extending out around the caliber marking. The same engraving pattern is found on the breech end of the barrel, on the forend cap, magazine ring and bottom of the lever assembly. There is a relief gold inlaid oval on the bottom of the magazine band, decorative gold relief bordering on the forend cap and around the screws, and on the bottom of the lever assembly. The hammer sides have a geometric pattern with gold inlaid border, the lever side have a simple relief gold inlay pattern and the buttplate has floral scroll and geometric patterns with a wolf's head in the center with a gold relief oval around the head and fancy gold relief wire bordering. The forearm and stock wrist are nicely carved with a floral scroll pattern with a partial geometric border and matte background. The barrel is marked with the two line address/patent date in front of the rear sight and "25-35 W.C.F." at the breech. The three line maker, model, patent date is marked on the upper tang and the serial number on the bottom, front of the frame.
