Condition Note: Canvas is lined. SURFACE: in fairly good condition; surface has been compressed from relining (although retention of colors and details is very good and there is still some surface texture); craquelure throughout (stable--rather unobtrusive) with light stretcher marks UNDER ULTRA VIOLET: scattered inpainting, most of it on right side of work--there are 4 large (1-2 1/2 in. each) spots of inpaint, probably to repair old tears--at top of misty mountain in background; also a repaired vertical tear, about 7 in. long at lower half, right edge; on left side--a few scattered small spots of inpaint in sky; at far left, there appears to be a repaired old tear, but it's under old varnish and difficult to understand extent of repair
