Condition/Details: Bound in blue pebbled cloth with silver lettering, this volume is a scarce collection of Bonestell's otherworldly conquest-of-space paintings. Chesley Bonestell (1888 - 1986) was a painter, designer and illustrator. His paintings were a major influence on science fiction art and illustration, and he helped inspire the American space program. He is known as the "Father of Modern Space Art."
The work is illustrated with many bright color photographs. A bookplate with title of this volume, an illustration, Bonestell's signature and the copy number 182 (out of 300) appear on front endpaper. The volume shows very light external age/wear, is solidly bound with clean pages, and encased in well-preserved slipcase. Several clippings are laid in. The book measures approximately 8 3/4" x 11 1/4" and contains 133 pages. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $4.50
