The North American Indian, Portfolio 1. [Cambridge, Massachusetts: John Andrew & Son for Suffolk Engraving, 1907]

Large folio (22 1/2 x 18 1/4 in.; 572 x 464 mm.). 39 photogravures on Van Gelder paper after photographs by Curtis, comprising plate numbers 1-39, the printed caption, plate number, photographer's copyright, and printer's credit in the margin, with the printed plate list and original tissue guards; some marginal foxing, light offset from tissue. Loose in original three-quarter morocco portfolio, remains of brown silk ties, number "1" stamped in gilt on upper cover.

NOTE

Depicting the Apache and Navaho peoples. One in a proposed edition of 500.
