NOTE

Seit 1908 bewohnte Cuno Amiet mit seiner Frau Anna ein stattliches Anwesen auf der Oschwand. Mit Ausnahme von regelmässigen Winteraufenthalten in Paris während den 30er Jahren und einigen kürzeren Reisen verbrachte Amiet sein Leben in dieser ländlichen Umgebung im Kanton Bern. Die Oschwand war ihm stets Motiv und Quelle seiner Inspiration. Das vorliegende Gartenbild ist ein Zeugnis für Amiets eindrücklichen Kolorismus.

Since 1908 Cunno Amiet lived in a grand mansion in the Oschwand with his wife Anna. Except for occasional short trips Amiet spent most of his time in this region of the canton Bern. Furthermore he regularily spent his winters in Paris. The Oschwand has always been the source and motive of his inspiration. This painting is proof of Amiet's impressive use of colour.
