Circle of Jacopo Bassano (Venetian, 1510/15-1592), brown ink and gouache with white opaque, swordsman saving figure on ground from a figure on horseback, 10 9/16" h. x 14 13/16" w. [[The work appears to be by a hand having been in contact with either Bassano or close enough to a body of his work to be familiar with his style and technique, close stylistic similarities but the work (a copy?) seems to lack the directness and strength of the master.] [Proceeds to the Paul W. Zimmerman Trust, which will benefit four fine art institutions.]
