Description: signed "Ch Landelle" lower right- -oil on canvas 24 x 19 7/8 in. (61 x 50.7 cm.) This oil sketch is a study for the reclining female figure in the lower left of Landelle's "Les Femmes de Jerusalem Captives a Babylone" in the Musee Ingres in Montauban. Landelle made several preparatory drawings for this well-known painting, including several black chalk studies for the figure in our oil sketch.
