Oil on canvas, 39 x 32 inches.Bedford, a lawyer and legislator born in New Castle, was a cousin and contemporary of Gunning Bedford, Jr.'s. He fought in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War and was later elected Governor of Delaware under the Federalist Party, serving from 1796-1797.
