Cast Iron Drummer Boy Bell Toy, circa 1885, possibly by J. & E. Stevens, featuring a light blue curvilinear base elaborately cast with raised rose, leaf and vine as well as The Drummer Boy in raised letters, fitted with standing Drummer Boy figure in black Shako with gold braiding, red jacket with epaulets, and gold striped blue pants, he is fitted with articulated arms, base drumsticks, and he carries a nickel-plated chime, the triangular front of the toy is mounted with an eagle, when toy rolls forward the boy beats out a tune on the ringing chimes, (excellent plus, colors are extremely bright and strong, small crack on rim of base). length 10 1/2 in. (26.7cm.) This toy is illustrated on page 67 of The Toy Collector by Louis Hertz.
