Oh, wow! Perhaps one of the greatest toys ever manufactured!! Carpenter, located in Port Chester, New York modeled their building after the brownstones of New York City. Mounted upon a wooden base with a simulated cast iron sidewalk, this two-story version has the second floor "on fire". One fireman has his firehose aimed at the flames, the second fireman ascends his ladder to rescue the damsel in distress who is evading the flames by standing on her balcony. Intricate detail to the castings further adds to the appeal of this toy. The rescue is performed by pulling the string. The fireman then leaps up the ladder, rescues the young lady with her arm and then climbs back down with the lady in his arms.
