Notes: The present work is one of only two located casts of l'Aurore. It possibly depicts the same girl as in the series of works of La Petite châtelaine in which Claudel portrayed the six year old Madeleine Boyer, grand-daughter of her hostess at the Château d'Islette where she stayed in 1893. The figure in the present work has a similar questioning and vivacious expression, which is accentuated by the sweep of hair that curves over her shoulder.
