C.1900, American, P. I. & B. Co {cast into brass plated iron facade}, 30 hour novelty commemorating Admiral Dewey's victory at Manila in 1898. Condition: there are minor oxidation spots on the brass dial; movement ticks and stops. Interestingly Dewey sailed into Manila Bay on April 30, 1898, and defeated the Spanish Fleet the following day May 1, 1898. In his later posts in Washington, Dewey was instrumental in updating the U.S. Navy with better ships and equipment. Rear wind 1-day movement in brass canister. Ht 10"
