CIRCA 1930-1998
UNTITLED 1993

120 by 160 cm

Bears size and Waringarri Aboriginal Arts catalogue number 510 on the reverse

Synthetic polymer paint on canvas

PROVENANCE

Indigenart, Perth
Private collection, Switzerland

NOTE

The work features the range of the artist's distinctive palette of natural earth pigments from powdery pink, pale violet and deep red, to tones of yellow ochre. The colours appealed to Queenie's sense of beauty, as she herself stated, and in fact she mined the pigments herself. The composition of rows of hills viewed in profile is also characteristic of her work

Cf. Limestone hills near Texas Downs, 1991, in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria, in Ryan, J. and K. Akerman (eds.), Images of Power: Aboriginal art of the Kimberley, National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, 1993, p.55, illus
