This is an example of the British Tower military percussion pistol with a steel swivel style ramrod with a large button tip. The lock plate is marked with a crown over "V.R. / TOWER 1844" and a "crown/arrow mark" ahead of the hammer. A total of 6 various crown proofs are marked on the left side and top of the barrel at the breech. Brass forend, ferrule, trigger guard and flat buttplate with a heavy lanyard ring. A pair of "P / 3" markings are stamped on the right side of the grip.
