(96.5 x 76.2 cm.) Painted in 1961 PROVENANCE Martha Jackson Gallery, New York. NOTES Bob Thompson often drew inspiration from old master paintings, using their compositions as starting points from which he would simplify and improvise. In the present painting, the artist borrows liberally from Tintoretto's St. George and the Dragon (collection: National Gallery, London).
