Original vari-coloured buckram, spines with printed paper labels, uncut (some light fading and very light staining). Provenance: Charles W. Berry, St. James's Street, London (book label). NUMBER 189 OF 780 COPIES SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR.

FINE PRESENTATION SET, EACH VOLUME INSCRIBED BY MAX BEERBOHM TO CHARLES W. BERRY OF BERRY BROS., ST. JAMES'S. The volumes are inscribed, usually on the front free endpapers, as follows: i) [Stories] (1922) "from Max Beerbohm 1936"; ii) More (1922) [beneath a tipped-in printed caricature of Beerbohm by 'Quiz' ie. Powys Evans] "I had my revenge. I made Powys Evans look perfectly awful. Max Beerbohm, 1936"; iii) Yet Again (1922) "Mr. Berry's Yet again indeed! Max, 1936"; iv) And Even Now (1922) "And even now I have in my nostrils the aroma of those lovely wines. Max Beerbohm, 2.55 o'clock, Thursday Feb. 13, Max Beerbohm"; v) A Christmas Garland (1922) "For Mr. Barry, Christmas present for 1937 - Max, 1936"; vi) Zuleika Dobson or an Oxford Love Story (1922) "Mr. Charles Berry's copy, Max Beerbohm and [in a different hand] Zuleika Dobson"; vii) Seven Men (1922) "For Mr Charles Berry, Max Beerbohm, 1936"; viii) Around Theatres Vol. I (1924) "I am very proud that Mr. Charles Berry possesses this (rather unreadable) volume - Max Beerbohm, Feb. 13 1936"; ix) Around Theatres Vol. II (1924) "And here's another unreadable affair - But Mr. Berry shall [underlined] read it - thus increasing my gratitude for a perfectly delightful luncheon, Max Beerbohm, Feb 13. 1936"; and x) A Variety of Things (1928) "For Mr Berry, MONOTONOUS [inserted before 'Variety' in the title], Max Beerbohm 1936".
