[ AUSTRALIAN / ABORIGINAL ART ] NAATA NUNGURRAYI (CIRCA 1932 - ) Women's Dreaming, 2002 synthetic polymer paint on linen 95 x 155 cm E10000-12000 Provenance: Flinders Lane Art Gallery, Melbourne Private Collection, VIC This work is sold with working photographs. This painting represents designs associated with women's ceremonies at the rockhole site of Marrapinti, west of the Pollock Hills in Western Australia. The roundels represent rockholes, and a large number of women, represented by the 'U' shapes, gathered at this site - sing the songs and perform the dances associated to the area. They then continued their travels gathering the edible berries and seeds growing in the area through which they passed.
