ATTRIBUTED TO ALBERTUS DEL ORIENT BROWERE (American, 1814-1887) GIFTS TO THE FAMILY. Large oil on canvas scene shows a young boy who has just returned home from a ocean voyage. He is outfitted in white pants, gold vest, dark coat and a sailor's type hat. He has brought with him a sack and has dispersed gifts including fine material to his sister, a bird to his other sister and what appears to be a sack of money to his mother. They sit outside of their house and a spinning wheel is seen with a seated cat. A birdcage hangs from tree where one daughter introduces a new bird to the resident bird. Wonderful sunset over water and land on left side. Housed in a fine flower motif decorated frame. SIZE: 25" x 30". CONDITION: Very good, minor inpainting to bottom edge. 9-93674 (6,000-8,000)
