Attrib. Henryk Siemiradzki(1843-1903) The Young Angler, inscribed H. Siemiradzki, Roma, Oil on canvas, 66 x 89.5 cm, framed, (Rei)Henryk Siemiradzki: He studied at the Petersburg Academy, travelled through France and Germany in 1870, halted briefly in Munich to study under Karl Theodor von Pilotys in 1871, then finally settled in Rome in 1872. He chose the themes for his historical and genre paintings in particular from Greek and Roman antiquity, as well as occasionally from the New Testament. He sought to link great brilliance and abundance of colour with precise reproduction of materials. He strove above all for sensory impact, which he enhanced further through the play of sunlight.
