ATT. TO SAMUEL L. WALDO & WILLIAM JEWETT, OIL ON WOOD PANEL, 30" X 24", 'MRS. BENJAMIN FRANKLIN LEE': Image is said to be a depiction of Mrs. Benjamin Franklin Lee [Jane Patience Riter Lawrence] as shown in a portrait , in half length. She is shown as an elderly woman clothed in a black dress and a white bonnet. No apparent signature. The piece is attributed as a collaborative work done by American artists Samuel Lovett Waldo [1783-1861] and William Jewett [1795-1873]. The piece was purchased from the Frick and in 1942 received a letter from the Frick Art Reference Library which states their artistic attribution.
