Anna Claypoole Peale (1791-1878) miniature portrait of sybilla stone morris kennedy, chester co. (1813-1891) Signed on reverse "Painted by Mrs. A.. C. Staughton Phila 1836", watercolor on ivory, gilt lock frame. Overall: 3 in. x 2 1/2 in. PROVENANCE: Sibilla Stone Morris of Chester County married James Maxwell Kennedy, a Philadelphia lawyer and judge in Philadelphia, November 23, 1836. The miniature descended in the Kennedy family to the present owner. Anna Claypoole Peale, daughter of James Peale, married William Staughton in 1829.
