'NATURE MORTE (II)'

measurements note
6 by 8 1/8 in. (15.2 by 20.6 cm.)

on the original full vellum mount, signed and dated by the photographer in pencil on the mount, dated, possibly by him, and titled, credited, and numbered in unidentified hands in pencil on the reverse, matted, 1927

PROVENANCE

Acquired by the Gilman Paper Company from the photographer, 1977

LITERATURE

Pierre Apraxine and Lee Marks, Photographs from the Collection of the Gilman Paper Company (White Oak Press, 1985), pl. 161 (this print)

NOTE

The still life offered here, like 'Nature Morte III' and 'Les Mains and des Livres' of Lots 30 and 31, was likely used for exhibition: it is on a full vellum mount, signed and dated by the photographer on the mount. It is credited, titled, and numbered '409' on the reverse in a hand that is not dissimilar to the hand on the reverse of Lot 30.

At the time of this writing, no other prints of this image have been located.
