Description: Style of Yoshimura Shuzan, Osaka, Mid 18th century. Standing wearing a loose tasseled robe and holding a small leaf spray, the dragon passes up his back, gripping the edges of his robe and forming an elaborate headdress, traces of gesso and colored pigment still remain on the soft kiri-wood. In the style of Yoshimura Shozan. 3 5/8in (9.2cm). Provenance: Ex M.T. Hindson collection, Sotheby's, London, October 11, 1967; lot 345. Davey: Fig. 1189. Ex W. W. Winkworth collection.
