a philadelphia street scene: corner of third and chestnut street circa 1815

Unsigned, original stretcher inscribed "N. Green, Summer of 1812," a typed note accompanying painting reads, "Painted by a cousin of Cecilia Sowers, back in Benjamin Franklin's time. He was an art student , and a storm was coming up. The place was a corner across from Benjamin Franklin's work shop in Phil." dated 1964, oil on canvas, framed, and relined. A conservation report accompanies painting.

The corner shop shown in the painting belonging to Edmund Kingsey's Manufactory; Saddles, Bridles, Harnesses & Whips is listed in Philadelphia directories from 1811- 1815

Condition: Treatment report with photographs accompanies painting. Newstretcher (original stretcher with inscription accompanies work) tears repaired and inpainted, relined.
